(The following interview is cross-posted with Third Coast Review–Chicago’s Arts & Culture, Curated–where I often write about circus and theater.)
I interviewed Elizabeth Streb about her upcoming show SEA at Harris Theater in Chicago. Streb’s work as a choreographer is groundbreaking (sometimes literally). I asked her what distinguishes her dance from circus and to define what an action engineer is. She takes it even further and explains how pop action can lead to either flight or disaster, and how audiences are encouraged to keep their phones on and fall through that invisible fourth wall.
Tickets are only $10. Shows are Friday January 13th at 6pm and Sunday January 14th at 2pm.
